Nathalie Smits is a senior scientist on food allergens at Wageningen Food Safety Research. There she is working at the department of bioassays and biosensors where she always has been fascinated by antibodies as a versatile tool in detection strategies. In Wageningen she brings together and combines different fields of expertise like immunochemistry, DNA based techniques, mass spectrometry and chain management, to map the power of each field to optimize allergen detection in food and utilize this to bring the food allergen field to a higher level.
