
Dr Alice LEE
Associate Professor Alice Lee is a leading expert in food science and allergy, based at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), with over 20 years of research experience in food chemistry, food safety, and allergen diagnostics.
Associate Professor Lee integrates food science, engineering, and molecular allergology to investigate the impact of food processing on allergenic proteins and their immunological response. As Chief Investigator of the OPIA clinical trial, she has led mechanistic studies on IgE and IgG4 antibody responses to oral immunotherapy. She is also an Associate Investigator in the NHMRC-funded Centre for Food Allergy Research (CFAR), contributing to research on allergy prevention, treatment and management.
Previously Co-Director of the ARC Training Centre for Advanced Technologies in Food Manufacture, Associate Professor Lee has led and collaborated on numerous national and international research programs. She co-founded the International Food Allergen Management Symposium (FAMS), a premier conference on allergen control in the Southern Hemisphere.
Associate Professor Lee is a member of the FAO/WHO Joint Expert Consultation on Food Allergen Risk Assessment, where she contributes to the development of global standards for allergen management and labelling.
