Prof Hiroshi Akiyama

Dr. Hiroshi Akiyama received PhD in pharmaceutical science in Chiba University in Japan (1993), He was major in the Analytical Chemistry. He began to research at Division of Foods in National Institute Health Sciences (NIHS) for developing the analytical method of mycotoxins in foods (1993-1999). He received visiting researcher training to study the effect of stress on lung at MacMaster University. Ontario, Canada (1999-2000), and then returned to be Section Chief at Division of Foods in NIHS (2001-2007) and moved to be Section Chief at Division of Novel foods and Immunochemistry in NIHS (2007-2011) to research for developing the detection method of genetically modified foods or food allergens (2001-2011). He then promoted to Head of Division of Food Additives in NIHS (2011~2015). He moved to Head of Division of Foods (2015).

He has been Professor of Department of Analytical Chemistry and Head of the Drug Development and Pharmaceutical Science Course, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical sciences, Hoshi University in Tokyo from 2021. He is also the visiting professor in Taipei Medical University in Taiwan.

He was awarded the Encouragement Award in Japanese Society of Food Chemistry (2003), the Significant Contribution Award (2010) and the Society Award (2020) in Japanese Society for Food Hygiene and Safety. He is the author of 68 reviews and more than 390 scientific Journal publications.
