Gale PRINCE

Gale Prince is a legacy in the field of food safety and food allergens with decades of experience in managing programs for a major food manufacturer and retailer focusing on addressing the needs of the allergic consumers. During his fifty-five-year career, he has been instrumental in advancing food allergen management by working with the food industry, various food regulatory agencies, and most importantly consumer groups on communicating food allergen information via food labels.

He is a strong supporter of the fact that food allergen management starts with the product design and the integrity of the ingredient supply chain, along with the ability of the manufacturer to protect the product during production from cross-contact and contamination from individual ingredients throughout the production cycle into the final consumer package. The label on the consumer package must accurately address all allergen(s) that may be in the package.

Mr. Prince brings a broad knowledge of food allergens to our Asia Conference to share with us the importance of food allergen controls. He understands the consumer challenges with his many years of working with consumers who are faced with their critical job of purchasing and preparing food for a family member who has a life-threatening food allergen.

He has been a supporter of good allergen management and training of food employees on preventing food allergen risks through the supply chain and allergen labeling practices for decades. He has and continues to review food recalls due to allergen label errors with the labeling of a product in the marketplace.

Mr. Prince has been referred to as the “Dean of Food Recalls” and today he will share with us some of his many years of learnings from recalls for enhancing your food allergen control programs.
